Ingredients
6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup melted butter
Optional Add-Ins:
½ cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
¼ cup dried cranberries
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon grated nutmeg
Instructions
Peel, core, and slice the apples thinly.
In a large bowl, toss the apples with granulated sugar and cinnamon until evenly coated.
Spread the apple mixture evenly in the bottom of a crockpot.
In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and melted butter until crumbly.
Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours, until apples are tender and topping is golden.
Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Add vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
For a crunchier topping, uncover the crockpot for the last 20–30 minutes to release steam.
This recipe works great with a mix of sweet and tart apples.
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat before serving.
