Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups chocolate chips (milk, semi-sweet, or mixed)
Instructions
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low until just combined—avoid overmixing.
Fold in the chocolate chips evenly.
Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Scoop rounded tablespoons (or use a 2-tbsp scoop) onto the baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
Bake 9–12 minutes, until edges are golden and centers slightly soft.
Rest cookies on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
