It’s a one-pan wonder that combines sweet, savory, and umami in every bite. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or impressing guests with minimal effort!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 200g udon or rice noodles
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 small carrot, julienned
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 spring onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the sliced beef with soy sauce, sugar, honey, minced garlic, and a teaspoon of sesame oil. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Cook the noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  3. Heat a pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the remaining sesame oil and stir-fry the marinated beef until fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, stir-fry onions, carrots, and mushrooms until tender.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the pan, then add the noodles. Toss everything together to combine.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Garnish with chopped spring onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Beef Tips: For the most tender results, freeze the beef for 15-20 minutes before slicing to make it easier to cut thinly.
  • Vegetable Variations: Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers, zucchini, or bok choy for added flavor and nutrition.
  • Spice It Up: Add a touch of gochujang (Korean chili paste) or red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Noodle Options: Udon noodles are classic, but you can substitute with rice noodles or even spaghetti in a pinch.
  • Make It Vegan: Swap beef for tofu or mushrooms and use a plant-based soy sauce for a delicious vegan alternative.
  • Garnish Game: A squeeze of lime or a drizzle of chili oil can elevate the flavors even more.
