Description
A creamy, comforting Campbells Green Bean Casserole topped with crispy fried onions. This classic dish comes together in 5 simple steps and is perfect for holidays, potlucks, or cozy weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Casserole
1/2 cup milk (whole milk works best for creaminess)
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp soy sauce
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup (Campbell’s for classic flavor)
4 cups green beans (fresh, frozen, or canned; thawed if frozen)
Topping
1 1/3 cups crispy fried onions (French’s; divided)
Instructions
Prep the green beans: thaw frozen, blanch fresh, or drain canned. Preheat oven or air fryer to 350°F.
Whisk soup, milk, and soy sauce until smooth.
Fold in green beans, pepper, and 2/3 cup fried onions.
Transfer mixture to a 9×9 baking dish. Bake 25 minutes (or 10 minutes in air fryer) until bubbling.
Stir gently, top with remaining fried onions, and bake 5 more minutes (or 2 minutes in air fryer) until golden and crispy.
Notes
Fresh green beans give the brightest color and best texture.
Make-ahead tip: assemble the casserole without the final onion topping, refrigerate, then bake and finish with onions before serving.
Double easily for a 9×13 pan.
