Description
These Cauldron Cookies are the ultimate Halloween party treat—fun, festive, and frightfully easy to make! Made with Devil’s Food cake mix, green buttercream “potion,” candy eyeballs, and pretzel “stir sticks,” these bite-sized goodies are guaranteed to cast a sweet spell on your guests.
Ingredients
For the Cookie Cups:
1 box Devil’s Food cake mix
2 eggs
1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil
Black food coloring (optional)
For the Buttercream Frosting:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
1–2 tbsp milk
Green food coloring
Toppings:
Green round sprinkles
Halloween sprinkles (skulls, bones, etc.)
Candy eyeballs
Pretzel sticks, halved
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease three 12-count mini muffin pans.
In a large bowl, mix cake mix, eggs, oil, and optional black food coloring until a thick dough forms.
Scoop 1/2 tablespoon of dough into each muffin cavity and flatten the tops.
Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until edges are set.
Immediately press a tablespoon measure into each cookie to create a well. Cool completely in the pan.
While cooling, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla, salt, and milk until smooth. Mix in green food coloring to desired shade.
Pipe green buttercream into each cookie well to mimic bubbling potion.
Decorate with green sprinkles, candy eyeballs, Halloween sprinkles, and half a pretzel stick.
Serve and enjoy your spooky sweet creations!
Notes
Flatten dough before baking to prevent doming.
Don’t overbake—these are meant to be soft and chewy!
No piping bag? Use a zip-top bag with the corner snipped.
Store in an airtight container at room temp for 3 days.
