Ingredients
1 lb flank steak (or sirloin/ribeye), thinly sliced against the grain
2 tbsp soy sauce (divided)
2 tsp cornstarch (divided)
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1/2 cup beef broth
1 tbsp vegetable oil (plus more if needed)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
1 large onion, sliced into wedges
1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips
1 tsp sesame oil
Optional: chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
Prep the Beef: Place sliced steak in a bowl and toss with 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tsp cornstarch. Set aside for 10 minutes.
Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, and remaining cornstarch until smooth.
Sear the Beef: Heat oil in a wok or skillet over high heat. Stir-fry beef in batches until browned on the outside (1–2 minutes per batch). Transfer to a plate.
Sauté Aromatics: Add a little more oil if needed. Stir-fry garlic, ginger, and onion for 1–2 minutes until fragrant and onions begin to soften.
Add Peppers: Stir in red and green bell peppers. Cook for 2–3 minutes until crisp-tender.
Combine & Sauce: Return beef to the pan. Stir the sauce mixture to recombine and pour it in. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything.
Finish & Serve: Drizzle with sesame oil, toss gently, garnish with green onions, and serve over steamed rice.
Notes
Slice beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
Keep your wok/skillet hot for a quick sear without overcooking.
You can swap beef for chicken or tofu for variation.
