Description

Chocolate Covered Cherry Magic Bars combine rich layers of chocolate, maraschino cherries, and sweetened condensed milk, creating an irresistible treat that’s both decadent and easy to make. These gooey, layered bars are perfect for any occasion, from holiday desserts to family get-togethers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (scooped and leveled)

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 stick butter (8 tablespoons)

  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 eggs

  • 10 oz jar maraschino cherries, drained and cut in half

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and cocoa powder.

  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt butter and 1/4 cup chocolate chips together in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.

  4. Add the melted chocolate/butter mixture, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Stir until fully combined.

  5. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

  6. Top with the cherries, chocolate chips, and drizzle with sweetened condensed milk.

  7. Bake for 28–30 minutes, until the edges are golden brown. Allow to set up overnight before cutting and serving.

Notes

Ensure the cherries are well-drained to avoid extra liquid.

Don’t overbake; the center should still be soft when you remove it from the oven.

Let the bars cool and set overnight for the best texture and flavor.
