Christmas Crack recipe

  • Author: Mounia
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: About 3540 pieces 1x

Description

This Christmas Crack is the ultimate sweet-and-salty holiday treat! Made with buttery toffee, melted chocolate, and crunchy crackers, it’s an easy, addictive dessert that’s perfect for gifting or snacking. Festive sprinkles and candy toppings add holiday cheer to every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sleeve Saltine crackers (about 3540 crackers) – Ritz or graham crackers work too

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (or salted butter if preferred)

  • 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Optional toppings: crushed peppermints, festive sprinkles, chopped nuts, M&Ms, toffee bits, or a drizzle of white chocolate

Instructions

  1. Prep: Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a 10×15-inch baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and lightly grease it.

  2. Layer Crackers: Arrange crackers in a single layer on the prepared pan—no gaps.

  3. Make Toffee: In a medium saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly until smooth and glossy.

  4. Bake: Pour toffee evenly over crackers and spread with a spatula. Bake for 5 minutes until bubbling.

  5. Add Chocolate: Remove from oven and cool for 5 minutes. Melt chocolate chips in the microwave in 1-minute bursts, stirring between each. Pour over the toffee and spread evenly.

  6. Decorate: Sprinkle your favorite toppings over the melted chocolate.

  7. Cool and Crack: Let cool completely until set (refrigerate to speed it up). Break into pieces and enjoy your homemade Christmas Crack!

Notes

For a twist, try Ritz crackers for buttery richness or graham crackers for extra sweetness.

Don’t skip the full 3-minute toffee boil — it’s key for perfect texture.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or freeze up to 2 months.

Perfect for gifting — wrap pieces in festive bags or tins!
