Description

These French Dip Squares are everything you love about a classic French Dip sandwich—flaky, cheesy, and savory—baked into one easy, crowd-pleasing dish. Layers of buttery crescent rolls, tender roast beef, and melty Swiss cheese come together with a rich onion-butter glaze and warm beef broth for dipping. Perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Squares:

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough

  • ¾ pound deli roast beef, thinly sliced

  • 8 slices Swiss cheese (or 1½ cups shredded)

  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix

  • ¼ cup butter, melted

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • Non-stick cooking spray

For the Dipping Sauce:

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.

  2. Layer the Base:
Unroll one can of crescent roll dough into the prepared dish, pressing seams together to form a smooth bottom layer.

  3. Add the Filling:
Layer the deli roast beef evenly over the dough, then top with Swiss cheese.

  4. Make the Flavor Drizzle:
In a small bowl, mix melted butter, dry onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Drizzle evenly over the cheese layer.

  5. Top and Seal:
Unroll the second can of crescent rolls and lay it over the top, pinching seams and edges to seal.

  6. Bake:
Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown and flaky. If the top browns too fast, cover loosely with foil.

  7. Cool and Slice:
Let cool for 5–10 minutes before cutting into squares for clean slices.

  8. Make the Dipping Sauce:
While baking, heat beef broth and Worcestershire sauce in a small saucepan. Season to taste and serve warm alongside the squares for dipping.

Notes

For extra flavor, add sautéed onions or mushrooms between the beef and cheese layers.
To make ahead: assemble, cover, and refrigerate for up to 6 hours before baking.
Reheat leftovers in the oven to keep the crust crisp.
Great for parties, game nights, or an easy make-ahead dinner.
