Ingredients

  • ¾ cup (167g) salted butter, softened

  • ½ cup (123g) brown sugar

  • ½ cup (115g) granulated sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 2 cups (304g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 cup (200g) chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.

  4. Add flour, baking soda, and salt; mix until a soft dough forms.

  5. Fold in chocolate chips.

  6. Scoop into 1½ tbsp portions and arrange on a lined or ungreased baking sheet.

  7. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.

  8. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

For extra-thick cookies, chill the dough for 20–30 minutes.

Add a sprinkle of flaky salt on top for a bakery-style finish.
