Ingredients
¾ cup (167g) salted butter, softened
½ cup (123g) brown sugar
½ cup (115g) granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 cups (304g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup (200g) chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
Add flour, baking soda, and salt; mix until a soft dough forms.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Scoop into 1½ tbsp portions and arrange on a lined or ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
Cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
For extra-thick cookies, chill the dough for 20–30 minutes.
Add a sprinkle of flaky salt on top for a bakery-style finish.
