  • Author: Mounia

  • Yield: 35 pieces 1x

Description

This Saltine Cracker Toffee is a sweet, salty, crunchy holiday favorite made with only 5 simple ingredients. Buttery caramel melts into crisp crackers, topped with rich chocolate and nuts for the perfect festive treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3540 saltine crackers (salted)

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1 cup salted butter

  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Optional toppings: sprinkles, chopped nuts, M&Ms, peanut butter chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a 10×15 rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment and coat with cooking spray.

  • Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer, salted side down.

  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, melt butter and brown sugar. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes, stirring continuously until lighter in color. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

  • Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the crackers and spread quickly.

  • Bake for 5 minutes, then turn the oven off.

  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee and return the pan to the warm oven for 1 minute. Remove and spread the melted chocolate evenly.

  • Add desired toppings while warm.

  • Cool on the counter for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for 2 hours or until fully set.

  • Cut into squares or break into bark pieces. Enjoy!

Notes

Parchment paper makes cleanup much easier.

If the sugar mixture separates, keep whisking—it will come back together.

Substitute toppings with peppermint, pecans, almonds, or festive sprinkles.

Stores well in the refrigerator for up to a week.
