Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Tongs
  • Slotted Spoon
  • Paper Towels

Ingredients

Taco Filling

  • 1/2 lb lean ground beef preferably 85% lean
  • 1/4 cup refried beans
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 corn tortillas small size
  • 2 slices of American cheese cut in half
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/4 cup taco sauce

For Frying

  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it into crumbles.
  • Stir in the refried beans, chili powder, garlic powder, and salt. Cook for another 3 minutes to combine flavors.
  • Warm each corn tortilla slightly to make them pliable. Place a small amount of the beef mixture on one side of the tortilla.
  • Add half a slice of American cheese on top of the meat mixture. Fold the tortilla in half and press gently to seal.
  • In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place each taco in the oil and fry for about 2 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  • Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels. Immediately open the tacos slightly and add shredded lettuce and taco sauce.
  • Serve warm and enjoy your homemade Burger King-style tacos!

Notes

For a spicier version, add jalapeños or hot sauce before serving. Baking instead of frying is a great alternative for a healthier version.
